Description
The RX Slug is a handcrafted soft plastic swimbait that does a lot with a little. No gimmicks, no kick… just a clean shimmy on the fall and that side-to-side slash that SoCal spotted bay bass, calicos, and sand bass can’t ignore.
I fish it weightless, nose-rigged, drop shot, on an underspin, behind the A-rig — honestly, I’ve fished this thing every way possible and it keeps producing. When bait’s around and fish are keyed in on profile, this is the one I reach for. It’s also the one I cut up when I want a split-tail ned rig presentation on the RX Firecracker Ned. Durable enough to survive being bitten in half and still catch fish.
One setup worth trying if you haven’t: press an RX Belly Weight into the underside, clip a small Colorado blade off the back, and slow-roll it along the wall just above the rocks. That side-to-side wobble on a slow retrieve is a different look than a standard swim and it’s been productive when fish are less aggressive.
Available in 4″, 6″, and 8″. The 4″ is my go-to for MDR spotties. The 6″ is for when I want to go big or when I’m slow-rolling deep structure. The 8″ is pure presence — when I want something that moves water and gets noticed.
How to rig it: Drop shot on a 2/0 EWG hook for a finesse presentation around pylons and dock structure. Weightless or nose-rigged on a 3/0 for a slow fall. Jig head or RX Roll Head for a standard swim retrieve with extra action on the pause. I run Blacktail Fishing EWG hooks across all three setups.
Made in Los Angeles in small batches.
